Amnesty International, in a detailed new report, states that the situation in Afghanistan has deteriorated further, with hundreds of Afghan prisoners under Taliban custody sentenced to death. According to the organization, the Taliban have imprisoned 20,000 people, including 1,500 women, among whom are also political prisoners.

The organization reports that many of these detainees are subjected to torture while in prison.

The report states that the Taliban continue arbitrary arrests, enforced disappearances, torture, and other abuses, including the execution of former government employees, human rights defenders, journalists, and critics.

Amnesty also highlights ongoing restrictions on the media, arrests of journalists, and the suppression of freedom of expression.

So far, the Taliban administration has not responded to the report.
