Kabul – The Taliban’s Supreme Court has announced that 17 individuals were flogged in Kabul province.
In a statement released on Wednesday, September 24, the court said these individuals were convicted of selling and trafficking narcotic tablets (Zikap and K-tablets), alcohol, and hashish.
According to the statement, the convicts were sentenced to prison terms ranging from seven months to three years and six months, in addition to receiving between 15 and 35 lashes.
It is worth noting that in August, UN experts, in a report, called on the Taliban to immediately halt corporal punishments and public executions, urging them to comply with their international human rights obligations.
The UN experts stressed that such practices are not only a violation of human rights but also pose a threat to the security and stability of Afghanistan.
