A major political gathering titled “Toward Unity and Trust” has officially opened in Islamabad, Pakistan’s capital, bringing together Afghan political figures, civil society activists, and women’s rights defenders to discuss the future of Afghanistan.
The two-day conference, organized by Women for Afghanistan and the South Asia Strategic Stability Institute, seeks to strengthen regional cooperation and present a shared vision for Afghanistan’s political roadmap.
Throughout the event, Afghan activists and political groups are holding dialogues with their Pakistani counterparts, addressing pressing issues of governance, peace, and inclusive representation.
Prominent participants include:
- Fawzia Koofi, former member of Afghanistan’s parliament
- Mustafa Mastoor, former minister of economy
- Nasir Ahmad Andisha, former permanent representative to the UN in Geneva
- Ahmadullah Alizai, former governor of Kabul
- Tahir Zohair, former governor of Bamyan
- Rahil Talash, Shahlla Arifi and Zakia Kawiyan Members of the Afghan Women’s Justice Movement
This conference, long delayed due to Taliban resistance, marks a significant step toward building trust and unity among Afghan democratic forces in exile.
