The third novel by Manizha Bakhtari, titled “A Daff for Golsa,” has been published and is now available. Written in a fluid style and within the framework of magical realism, this novel tells the story of three generations of a family, offering readers a deeply human experience of life under Afghanistan’s complex social and historical circumstances. The book, edited and typeset by Naser Hotaki with cover design by Mohsen Hosseini, has been published by Parnian Publications.
According to the author, “A Daff for Golsa” focuses on the wounds and sufferings caused by the margins of war in Afghanistan, crafting a thought-provoking and profoundly human narrative. Combining realism with poetic and magical moments, Bakhtari illustrates how the past and the experience of war shape lives, relationships, and entire generations. The characters are drawn with nuance and precision, and their stories interweave humor, pain, love, and hope, inviting readers on a journey rich in memory and reflection.
Manizha Bakhtari is a prominent Afghan writer and researcher, former professor at Kabul University, and currently Afghanistan’s ambassador to Austria. She is one of the most prolific female authors in the country. Prior to this, she wrote the acclaimed novels “The Four Daughters of Zoroaster” and “Sweet Ashes,” both warmly received by readers. In addition, Bakhtari has published nearly ten scholarly works in the fields of journalism, culture, and society.
