According to statements issued by the Taliban’s Supreme Court, the group publicly flogged four people — including a woman — today (Thursday, 3 July) in the provinces of Nangarhar and Farah.
These individuals were accused of “running away from home, extramarital sex, and illicit relationships,” the court said.
The statement reported that two of them — including a woman — were flogged 33 times in Dara-e-Noor district of Nangarhar province on charges of “running away from home and engaging in extramarital sex.”
In addition to flogging, they were sentenced by the district primary court to five and six months of imprisonment, respectively.
In a separate statement, the Supreme Court said two others were flogged 30 times in Pusht Rod district of Farah province on charges of “illicit relations.”
These individuals were also sentenced by the district primary court to one year of imprisonment.
