Wardak: Man Kills Mother, Wife, and Father

Local sources in Maidan Wardak say a man shot and killed three members of his own family — his mother, wife, and father.

According to a relative of the suspect, the incident occurred on Friday in Hesa-e-Dowom, Maidan Wardak, following a family dispute. After a verbal altercation, the son allegedly opened fire with a Kalashnikov, killing all three.

The suspect has reportedly been arrested by the Taliban, though local officials have not yet commented on the case.

This tragedy comes just weeks after a similar case in Herat, where a man murdered his wife, sister, and father.

Domestic violence and the easy access of civilians to firearms are cited as major drivers of such family killings in Afghanistan. While local Taliban authorities have confirmed some cases, no official statistics on domestic violence-related murders have been published in the last four years.
