The Taliban have publicly flogged 23 individuals, including six women, in Jawzjan, Badakhshan, and Kabul over the past few days, citing charges such as “illicit relations, extramarital sex, theft, drug trafficking, alcohol possession, and unlawful marriage.”
According to Taliban court rulings, punishments ranged from 15 to 39 lashes in public, along with prison sentences from six months to two years.
This latest incident reflects the Taliban’s continued enforcement of harsh interpretations of Sharia law, a practice widely condemned by human rights organizations for its degrading and inhumane nature.
