RFI: Leaving Afghanistan – The Only Dream for Women Under Taliban Rule

1 Min Read

Radio France Internationale reports that under Taliban rule, the greatest aspiration of Afghan women and girls is to leave the country. Severe restrictions on education, employment, and public life have subjected them to immense pressure and psychological distress.

A women’s rights activist who traveled across 15 provinces stated: “Women are not only deprived of education but are also struggling with depression and mental health crises.”

However, the high cost of passports and visas has made migration nearly impossible. This crisis has also affected children, many of whom are forced to work on the streets instead of attending school.

Afghans remain hopeful that international pressure on the Taliban will eventually restore women’s access to education and employment.
