A video circulated on social media shows school officials at Abdul Haq Baytab High School in Kabul violently beating male students with sticks for not wearing the uniform mandated by the Taliban. The footage, first shared by Zawia News, reveals that the students were physically assaulted for failing to wear the required turban, despite wearing traditional attire.

One student reported that the Taliban-appointed school principal is a former militant who regularly carries a firearm on campus. Under the Taliban’s education regulations, students and teachers must wear specific clothing, including a turban, shirt, and trousers, in designated colors and sizes.

Many students cannot afford the mandated uniforms and have faced violence or been denied entry to school as a result.

This is not the first such incident. Following a previous viral video showing abuse at Ghazi High School, the Taliban’s Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue summoned the school principal, who later admitted to cutting students’ hair and apologized in a public video.
