Following a six-day election for the Migrants’ Parliament in France, four Afghan migrants — Sayyara Rahmani, Rohullah Sediq, Fatema Haidari, and Enamulah Samoon — secured the highest number of votes among migrants from other countries and won seats in the parliament. Sayyara Rahmani, an Uzbek poet and writer, topped the list with the most votes overall.

The Migrants’ Parliament of France is a social and consultative body established to bring migrants’ perspectives into the country’s policy-making processes.

This election took place after candidates passed a B2-level language exam and a jury selection process, involving 29 migrants of various nationalities living in France. Ultimately, only fifteen were elected to the parliament. Two additional candidates, who did not win enough votes, were chosen as alternates and will join the parliament in the event of a resignation or death of one of the elected representatives.
