Reza Jafari, head of the Afghanistan Peace Dialogue organization, announced the founding of the Afghanistan Green Party in Exile in Paris, France. The party’s mission is to advocate for women’s rights, social justice, and environmental protection in Afghanistan.
On Wednesday, August 20, Jafari shared a video on his X (formerly Twitter) account emphasizing the party’s commitment to fighting for freedom and equality for Afghan women.
He described the party as a free, women-centered (feminist), and environmentally conscious movement, adding:
“This party plants seeds of hope in the midst of darkness.”
According to Jafari, the creation of this party is a vital effort to amplify the silenced voices of the Afghan people, particularly women, on the global stage. He added:
“This initiative also seeks to build a bridge between exile and the reconstruction of a free, green, and just Afghanistan.”
The party’s formation comes amid continued oppression of Afghan women, as the Taliban have issued over 100 restrictive orders targeting them. For four years, women under Taliban rule have been deprived of fundamental rights, including education, work, freedom of movement, recreation, and political participation.
The international community has consistently condemned the Taliban for systematic human rights violations, while Afghan activists and organizations in exile continue their tireless struggle for justice and equality.
